Our Limerick Events Guide is a bit late this week. That’s because there’s so much going on in Limerick this week. We’ve even got a Bank Holiday weekend to look forward to. I’m sure I’ll be adding more events as the week goes on so do check back in.

An Exhibition The Art of the Stitch – The Legacy of Maude Kearney is now on display at Limerick Museum and will be on display until Wednesday 31st January. Free admission. More info here

Get Well Soon (prologue) is a group exhibition in Ormston House (until Feb 3rd) drawing a connection between human and planetary exhaustion. Curated by Lucy Lopez. More info here

The Cruthú Ó Mhná exhibition is hosted by members of the female collective Mná na nEalaín in the Limerick City Museum, in recognition of the national holiday for the Irish Patron Saint, Brigid from the 1st to the 5th of February. Cruthú Ó Mhná features work from selected artists; Anna Marie Savage, Aoife Cawley, Claire Murphy, Clare Hartigan, Helle Helsner, Joy Kavanagh, Maria McSweeney, Nicola Sheehan, Tiffany Glenn aka. Fannyland, and Verona Stellet. With work from selected Mná na nEalaín members; Angelina Foster, Lara Grufferty, Carol Kennedy, and Sibéal Riordan. More info here

Treaty City is hosting Seachtain Brigid from the 2nd-8th of February.  They’ve lined up a savage week of amazing events focused on the spirit of St Brigid. The Imbolic Exhibition (in collaboration with LSAD Exhibition Society) will be on display in the Brewery. They’ll also be collecting period products for women in poverty throughout the week.

The Nights Candles Are Burnt Out: Climate, Culture, Change & Community Exhibition will be on display in The Hunt Museum until Thursday 29th February 2024. The exhibition is co-created by companies involved in alternative energy supply and technology, local communities and contemporary artists interpreting the science and facts, translating the fears and aspirations. Due to popular demand, Seeing without Sight returns for a second run in the Hunt Museum (until 29th February). Seeing without Sight is a multi-sensory exhibition which enables visitors to experience a selection of Hunt Museum objects through tactile displays and audio descriptions. It has been delivered through an inclusive co-creation process with persons with visual impairment and confirms the museum’s commitment to expanding access and inclusion for persons with disability. Monday 29th January

The IFI@Belltable Film Series returns with Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall (2023). Sandra (Sandra Hüller), a German writer, her French husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son Daniel live in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead below their chalet, the police question whether he committed suicide or was killed. Samuel’s death is treated as suspicious, presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect. Screenings at 5pm and 8pm. Tickets €8. More info here

Michael McCarthy, author of the book ‘High Tension: Life on the Shannon Scheme’, will be giving a Lunchtime Talk in the Hunt Museum at 1pm about the politics and life in Ireland during the development of the Shannon Scheme during the 1920s and 1930s. The talk will cover the mistrust and paranoia left behind from the Irish Civil War. Tickets €5. More info here

There’s a Contemporary Dance Class for Adults in Dance Limerick from 6pm to 7.15 pm and running for 7 weeks. These are suitable for both beginners and those with experience in Contemporary Dance. The goal is to help develop your creativity and technique. Through a series of energetic and challenging sequences and varied exercises, you will gain the skills and confidence to dance with ease. Classes run the following dates: 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th January and 13th, 20th, 27th February. The course costs €84 for 7 weeks. More info here

There’s a Ballet Class for Adults in Dance Limerick from 6pm to 7.15 pm for Beginners and 7.30pm to 8.45pm for Improvers. Running for 7 weeks. Ballet supports fitness, good posture, balance, flexibility, coordination, spatial awareness and rhythm. This class will invite you to try new things in a non-judgmental and safe environment. Saturday 3rd February

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way Market Stalls &  Food Court will be open 10am to 3pm (food court open til late).

Dance Limerick’s Saturday Dance Clubs for Kids are a fantastic way for our young dancers to keep exploring their creativity, express themselves, make new friends and learn new moves and routines. 10am-10.45am and 11am-11.45am for tots aged 2-4, 12pm-12.45pm for kids aged 5-8 and 1-2 pm for kids aged 9-14.
