All Week (5th-11th February)
Dance Limerick proudly presents the seventh edition of What Next Dance Festival. It takes place in their space from the 6th to the 10th of February. This year’s festival gathers performers from across Ireland and internationally to create an exciting few days of discovery and celebration. More info here
The Cruthú Ó Mhná exhibition is hosted by members of the female collective Mná na nEalaín in the Limerick City Museum, in recognition of the national holiday for the Irish Patron Saint, Brigid from the 1st to the 5th of February. Cruthú Ó Mhná features work from selected artists; Anna Marie Savage, Aoife Cawley, Claire Murphy, Clare Hartigan, Helle Helsner, Joy Kavanagh, Maria McSweeney, Nicola Sheehan, Tiffany Glenn aka. Fannyland, and Verona Stellet. With work from selected Mná na nEalaín members; Angelina Foster, Lara Grufferty, Carol Kennedy, and Sibéal Riordan. More info here
Treaty City is hosting Seachtain Brigid from the 2nd-8th of February. They’ve lined up a savage week of amazing events focused on the spirit of St Brigid. The Imbolic Exhibition (in collaboration with LSAD Exhibition Society) will be on display in the Brewery. They’ll also be collecting period products for women in poverty throughout the week.
The Nights Candles Are Burnt Out: Climate, Culture, Change & Community Exhibition will be on display in The Hunt Museum until Thursday 29th February 2024. The exhibition is co-created by companies involved in alternative energy supply and technology, local communities and contemporary artists interpreting the science and facts, translating the fears and aspirations. Due to popular demand, Seeing without Sight returns for a second run in the Hunt Museum (until 29th February). Seeing without Sight is a multi-sensory exhibition which enables visitors to experience a selection of Hunt Museum objects through tactile displays and audio descriptions. It has been delivered through an inclusive co-creation process with persons with visual impairment and confirms the museum’s commitment to expanding access and inclusion for persons with disability. Monday 5th February (Public Holiday)

The Marvellous Mascot Show takes place in the Greenhills Hotel at 1.30pm and 4pm. It’s a fully interactive show for kids but adults can sing and dance along too! €12 per person or €40 for a family of 4. More info here
As part of Seachtain Brigid, Phil Meaney hosts a special Live editition of the Tagents Podcast in Treaty City Brewery at 4pm. Phil will interview Sharon Slater, a local historian who literally wrote the book on women in Limerick. Free event. More info here

As part of Seachtain Brigid, Treaty City are hosting MnáTalk at 7pm. MnáTalk features a stunning lineup of successful women in Limerick’s creative sector all coming together for a panel talk. The panel includes Niamh Brown, Louise Donlon, T.A. Narrative, Sharon Slater, and Jess Tobin and will be chaired by Aoife O’Connell. They’ll be discussing the landscape here, their stories, and sharing their wisdom. This is a charity event, it’s free to attend so all they ask is that you donate to GOSHH while you’re here, or being period products that they will give to Thomond House for women in poverty. Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

Breathe Better Yoga are hosting a Mindful Walk around Limerick City from 11am. Meeting at King John’s Castle. As you walk the route, the group will pause along the riverbanks for gentle stretching, allowing you to connect with your body and the serene surroundings. The journey continues with intentional breaks for mindful breathing, providing an opportunity to absorb the beauty of the river and fully engage in the present moment. Free event. Weather dependant.
