All Week

The Made of Earth Exhibition continues at the Hunt Museum until 6th April. Made of Earth explores the story of clay and ceramics; how they have impacted civilisation and how civilisation has developed through their use. More info here.

The Limerck City Art Galley has two new exhibitions – a collaboration between Celine Sheridan amd Mel French entitled Mammalia and the Psyche and Casey Walshe’s Come On Baby. Both exhibitions run until the 16th of April. More info here

The Limerick Art Society Spring Exhibition will take place in the Parkway from Thursday until Tuesday 14th March 2023. Open from 10am to 5pm. More info here

Monday 27th February

The IFI@Belltable series continues with Tár (2022). Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) is the world-renowned conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, a woman at the top of her rarefied field with a seemingly endless list of accomplishments and awards to her name. Tár has been nominated for six Academy awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Todd Field) and Best Actress (Blanchett). Screenings at 5pm and 8pm. Tickets €8. More info here

The UCH Spring Cinema Season continues with Bruce Robinson’s black comedy Withnail and I (1987). Two out of work actors-the anxious, luckless Marwood (Paul McGann)and is acerbic, alcoholic friend, Withnail (Richard E. Grant)-spend their days drifting between their squalid flat. The unemployment office and the pub. When they take a holiday “by mistake” a the country house of Withnail’s flamboyantly gay uncle, Monty, they encounter the unpleasant side of the English Countryside: tedium, terrifying locals and torrential rain. Tuesday 28th February

Limerick Sports Partnership’s weekly ActiveCities Walking Group is doing the Kings Island Bank Walk. Meeting at Clare Street Park at 11am. No need to register. Just turn up and enjoy the walk.

Meanwhile, the West Limerick Weekly Walk is exploring the Castle Demesne in Newcastlewest. Meeting at 11am in the at the car park at the entrance to the Demense (Entrance by Newcastlewest Community Centre). If you wish to come along please phone 061 333 600 or email [email protected]

There’s an Irish Dancing Class in the Record Room (downstairs in the Commercial Bar) from 7pm-8pm. Cost €10. Followed by the Tintéan Sessions take place in the Commercial Bar from 9 pm.

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK Pick Your Pint is a special Beer Tasting Event at Treaty City Brewery to raise money for Novas. Tickets €30. A great night ahead. Test your knowledge of Limerick and learn about some amazing beers. Whether you are already a beer lover or you want to learn more about craft beer come along. There’s fun for everyone. It’s Salsa Wednesday in the Record Room (Commercial Bar) from 7.30pm until late. Evening classes followed by Latin Social.

Saturday 4th March

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way will be open 10am to 3pm with the stalls selling arts, crafts, etc. from 10am to 3pm.

Junior Parkrun is a series of free, weekly 2k runs for children aged 4 to 14. The Limerick Junior Parkrun is held every Sunday at 9:30am and Shelbourne Park. You need to register once to get your barcode. More info here
