Normally things quieten down over the summer and these event listings are fairly quick to write. Summer 2023 in Limerick is showing no signs of slowing down at all. This week, we’ve got three amazing Live at the Castle gigs with Kraftwerk, Madness and the Stunning all playing at this amazing venue.
We also have a Treaty United match, Summer at Honan’s Quay, Fred & Alice in the Friars Gate, Seo Linn in Dolans, Bingo Loco, Quiz night in Crew and a Poetry, Pints & Prose night in Treaty City amongst other great events.

An Ancient Land Exhibition by LSAD Student James Wellwood will be on display in the Hunt Museum until Friday 30th June 2023. More info here

The Dromcollogher Carnival takes place from Friday 23rd June until Sunday 1st July. There’s music gigs, sporting events, a road race, art exhibition and much, much more. More info here
Monday 26th June
This week’s IFI@Belltable screening is Ridley Scott’s 1991 classic Thelma and Louise. Yearning to escape the tedium of their everyday lives, best friends Thelma (Geena Davis) and Louise (Susan Sarandon), a bored housewife and a straight-laced waitress at a coffee shop, hit the road in Louise’s ’66 Thunderbird convertible for a three-day fishing trip with no husbands, boyfriends, or other such barriers to the giddy promise of freedom. Tuesday 27th June
Limerick Sports Partnership’s weekly ActiveCities Walking Group is doing the Limerick City Walk. Meeting at Arthurs Quay Park at 11am. No need to register. Just turn up and enjoy the walk.
The Hunt Museum is hosting a Book Launch for Edmund Sexten Pery: The politics of virtue and intrigue in eighteenth-century Ireland by David A.Fleming. More info here
Prose, Pints & Poetry, a Spoken Word event for creative writers, poets, short story tellers and general shite talkers is in Treaty City from 6pm.
Jack Brolly is back with another Wierd and Wonderful Quiz Night in Crew Brewing from 7.30pm. If you’ve never done this quiz, you’re in for a treat. This month, the quiz is fundraiser for Dyke Night, a new LGBTQ+ club night. €20 for a team of four.
Limerick Pedestrian Network is holding a leisurely walk around the Island as part of their Summer Strolls series. Meeting at 8pm at Merchants Quay
The Tintéan Sessions take place in the Commercial Bar from 8:30pm til late. Free Entry
Wednesday 28th June

Clareman Seán Lyons plays Upstairs at Dolans at 8pm. His debut EP of original songs Juliana EP was released on February 3rd 2023. It is a collection of five songs written in the folk idiom. Tickets from €10. More info here
It’s Irish Language Night at Crew Brewing at 8pm. All levels welcome
The Irish Youth Training Choir, with Conductor Patrick Barrett, perform Unspoken Words, Forgotten Voices as part of their summer concert series in the Irish Chamber Orchestra Building (UL North Campus) at 7pm. The concert includes commissioned work by a number of Irish composers to include Giovanna del Alice, Rohan Harron, Aoife Kavanagh, Robbie Kitt, Emma O’Halloran, and Paul Scully. Tickets from €8. The hilarious Fred & Alice is on at the Friars Gate Theatre at 8pm. Fred & Alice is a quirky love story about 2 amazing mischievous characters who meet in a home. It wasn’t really a home, but Fred always called it a home because that was where he lived, and if you are not living at home then where are you? It was love at first sight for Alice. Fred didn’t talk to her again for years but then eventually Fred got used to her and it was love at first sight for him too. Tickets €15 More info here

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

It’s the second date of the Summer at Honan’s Quay series of events from 12pm to 6pm. For the summer months, Honan’s Quay in Limerick City will be transformed into a recreational space by the river for people to enjoy. Junior Parkrun is a series of free, weekly 2k runs for children aged 4 to 14. The Limerick Junior Parkrun is held every Sunday at 9:30am and Shelbourne Park. You need to register once to get your barcode. More info here

Share Community Day will take place from 11am – 3pm in the Bruff GAA Grounds. It will celebrating all of what the local community has to offer. There will be various activities for free on the day under the following headings: Sports, Health, Arts, Reflection and Exchange (SHARE).
