The Lasta Young Creators Festival 2024 is a series of events curated by the Belltable’s Young Curators Annie Brown and Erin Fitzgerald taking place in the Belltable from the 6th to the 8th June. More info here
The 2024 Limerick Sings Festival will take place from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June. Participating choirs from throughout Ireland, the USA and Europe, together with local audiences, can expect a wonderful weekend of song. More info here
The 2024 LSAD Graduate Show will open to the public from 10am to 5pm daily until Sunday, 9th June. This vibrant showcase, featuring unique collections and captivating installations by graduating students will be an inspiring celebration of emerging talent and innovative design.
The Mountains, Fall on Us Exhibition by Austin McQuinn is in the Limerick City Gallery of Art from Friday 26th April to Sunday 9th June. Mountains, Fall on Us invokes the poetic object as a means of salvation, alongside micro gestures of iconoclasm. Paintings on discarded military engravings, a tower of Aran sweaters, medals, clay tongues, sequins, bog oak and upholstery fabric are reclaimed and refashioned with a new baroque sensibility. Queered with an optimism and infused with what the artist has called ‘a kind of mad hope’, McQuinn takes possession of these found images and objects, painting over them with ink in an extravagant and decadent defacement. The Ireland and the Birth of Europe exhibition returns to the Hunt Museum until June 20th. Ireland and the Birth of Europe tells the story of the part played by Irish scholars and missionaries in the early history of the European idea, especially their cultural role in the consolidation of the empire built by the Carolingians, an empire that covered most of western Europe. This timely exhibition marks 50 years since Ireland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1973. More info here

In the summer of 2014 – the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings – octogenarian Bernie Jordan made global headlines. As part of the Limerick Sings Festival, a workshop with The Swingles on Singing Without a Safety Net will take place in the University Concert Hall at 4pm. We all have music inside us – some of us just have a hard time getting it out. In this workshop, suitable for any age or level of experience, we banish inhibitions and use the tools we all possess to create music in the moment. Beginning with some fun warm-ups, and progressing through improvisation games and listening exercises, participants will soon find themselves composing musical masterpieces on the fly. Tickets €15. As part of the Limerick Sings Festival, Conductor Bernie Sherlock (New Dublin Voices) will lead an Outdoor Chorus at the Cliffs of Moher at 9am. Singers will enjoy a fun rehearsal/workshop of a well-known song, led by acclaimed conductor Bernie Sherlock, in University Concert Hall, before performing together, conducted by Bernie, at the stunning Cliffs of Moher. Bernie will be joined by members of her award-winning chamber choir New Dublin Voices, to help lead the performance. The Outdoor Chorus is open to singers of all levels of experience. You can join as a choir, small group, or individual singer. Once you book your ticket, we will send you the song to practise in advance, but there is no pressure to be note-perfect – we are singing together for fun! Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.
