Ormston House presents The Limerick Show, a showcase of works by emerging and established artists. This is a celebration of the breadth of art being produced in Limerick (city and county) today, showcasing thirty-nine artists and spanning painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and video. This edition has no theme, but there are recurring motifs and subjects. Runs from the 29th November to the 1st February. More info here
Monday 13th January
The IFI@Belltable Film Series presents Edward Berger’s Conclave (2024) in the Belltable at 5pm and 8pm. When the Pope unexpectedly dies, Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes), Dean of the College of Cardinals, is tasked with presiding over the conclave, the time-honoured and highly secretive process for electing his successor. Also staring Sergio Castellitto, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini. Tickets €8. More info here

As part of the First Fortnight Festival, there’s a screening of The No Show in Vue Cinema at 6.30pm. The No Show is a film inspired by working-class men known not to turn up. It’s an attempt to create an opportunity to It’s an attempt to enter the experience of the absence he creates and explore his internal world? Who didn’t show up for him? To understand him, we need to meet his father; to understand his Da, we need to know his grandfather. Like Russian dolls, we complicate the narrative around men like him. Free entry. More info here

Frank Baum’s classic “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” featuring show-stopping tunes such as “Ease on Down the Road,” “Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News,” and “Believe in Yourself.” This production promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing the incredible talents of over 100 secondary students from Crescent College Comprehensive. Moses McGuinness plays Dolans Kasbah at 8pm. McGuinness is an Irish, folk pop singer-songwriter that can be found performing behind the piano and guitar but is best known for his angelic baritone vocal. No stranger to the stage Moses is an A.I.Ms Award Nominee for best male vocal and has performed as a singer and actor in many musical and theatre productions. As an original artist Moses has performed in venues across Ireland, England and Europe, sharing the stage with acts such as The Frank and Walters, Damien Dempsey, The Undertones, Emma Langford, Brian Deady and many more. Moses has written three albums and an E.P with his band Protobaby but is now taking some time to focus on solo music. Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

Junior Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors (4 to 14 year-olds) held every Sunday at 9:30am in Shelbourne Park, Shelbourne Road. It’s free to take part but you need to register online before your first session and bring along your barcode. More info here
