Pigtown Listings 22nd-28th August 2022

There was a great buzz around the city last week with Denise Chaila, the Coronas, Paolo Nutini and all the great Feile na Greine gigs happening in venues big and small. And to top it off, several Limerick pubs came out as winners at the Pub of the Year Awards. Proving once again that Limerick is the best city in Ireland. We’re a bit late to the party this week. Sometimes, life just get’s in the way. Our Pigtown Pick of the Week is the Slow Sunday which is taking place in Treaty City Brewery on Sunday. All Week (22nd-28th Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings 15th-21st August 2022

Thanks to everyone who shared last week’s Pigtown Listings. The whole purpose of this blog is to help spread the word about events in our city. The more people that share the links, the more chance someone might stumble across it, see an event that interests them and head along. And, as a good friend of mine says, if you go to things, there will be more things. So onto this week. And what a week we have lined up. In a week with Denise Chaila, the Coronas and Paolo Nutini, the competition for our Pigtown Pick of the Week Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings 8th-14th August 2022

So after a few weeeks of wrestling with the gremlins, the website is back up and running. In the meantime, I’ve been working on the Pigtown Directory which will go live in the next fortnight. The Pigtown Directory will replace the support local section and will be an indepedent directory of Limerick’s Pubs, Restaurants, Cafes, Hotels, Tourist attractions etc for locals and tourists alike. Thanks to everyone who replied to my tweets to help source this information. In the meantime, there’s plenty going on this week including HER Outdoors Week and the Under 21 World Lacrosse Championship. Our Pigtown Pick Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings – 24th-30th January 2022

Well, we definitely didn’t think we’d be here so quickly, did we? It looks like Covid restrictions are being lifted. With that in mind, I thought it was a good time to resurrect the Pigtown Listings. As always, all events and times are subject to change (especially so this week). I’ll try keep this updated throughout the week but please check with individual event organisers for more information. Also, remember that event/venue staff are going to be under a lot of pressure in the coming days – don’t be a gowl and add to the stress. All week Celebrating one Continue Reading

Bandcamp Friday – May 2021

If the rumours are to be believed, this might be the last Bandcamp Friday for a while. If you’re not familar with Bandcamp Friday, it’s when music sales website Bandcamp doesn’t charge commissions on sales for one day each month. Why is that important? It means up and coming musicians get 100% of the money for purchases. So if you want to support local music, this is the best way to do it. And given all that’s happened in the last year, I think it’s fair to say they deserve a helping hand for getting us through it all. So Continue Reading

Seven Fun Things To Do This Week – 26th October

Almost as soon as we launched our Seven Fun Things You Can Do This Week series last Monday, we immediately regretted limited it to seven things. We’ve got so many suggestions that it was hard to narrow it down to just seven. If you have a suggestion for a fun thing to do, drop us an email to [email protected]. Oh, and while we have your attention, don’t forget to support local business. 1) Samhain Festival Trick-or-Treat might not be on the cards but Halloween is far from cancelled. This year’s Samhain Festival might not have the parade but there are Continue Reading

Seven Fun Things To Do This Week – 19th October

There’s a lot of uncertainty around at the moment. As we write this, we’re no closer to figuring out if we’re moving to level 5 or even to level 4. All we can do is keep doing our best. Keep your distance, wash your hands and wear a mask. With no events going on, we thought a different approach to the weekly listing was needed. So for the next few weeks, we’re going to bring you a list of Seven Fun Things You Can Do This Week. It will be a mix of online events, walking routes, music/book recommendations, sporting Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings 31st August – 6th September

This week I had hoped to write about the return of gigs in Dolans. Unfortunately that is not meant to be. The Covid-19 restrictions continue to descinate the arts and music industries here. While it’s important that we contain this virus, the confusion and uncertainty for those who work in these industries must be very stressful. Despite that, this week’s Pigtown Listings features the return of some firm favourites. We have the Belltable Film Club and the first of Bottom Dog’s latest rehearsed reading series. All Week A new Limerick Medieval Trail has been launched. This is a collaboration between Limerick.ie, St. Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings 24th – 30th August

Last week saw the re-introduction of some Covid-19 restrictions, it’s likely the next few weeks will be quiet on the event front. However, we’ll still cover the ones that are going ahead. We’ve done our best to confirm if events are still happening but we’d encourage everyone to keep an eye on the website/social media pages on events they wish to attend throughout the week. If you come across an event that’s cancelled or one we missed, let us know in the comments or via our Contact us page. All Week A new Limerick Medieval Trail has been launched. This is a Continue Reading
