All Week

The Made of Earth Exhibition continues at the Hunt Museum until 6th April. Made of Earth explores the story of clay and ceramics; how they have impacted civilisation and how civilisation has developed through their use. More info here.

LCGA is also hosting three exhibitions. The first exhibition is by artist Brian Fay entitled The Most Recent Forever. The second is by Caroline Dunne entitled Objects of Memories. The third is a collection kindly loaned to the Gallery from the private collection of Maire & Maurice Foley. All exhibitions will run until 12th February. More info here

Monday 30th January

The IFI@Belltable series continues with Corsage. Directed by Marie Kreutzer. Vienna, 1877: Elizabeth (Vicky Krieps), the Austro-Hungarian Empress, is celebrating her 40th birthday with her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph (Florian Teichtmeister), aware that for a woman internationally renowned for her beauty and style the age signals the approach of decrepitude and irrelevance. The Spring Cinema Season at UCH kicks off with Brett Morgen’s Moonage Daydream, a cinematic odyssey exploring David Bowie’s creative and musical journey. Starts 7.30pm. Tickets €5. More info here

Tuesday 31st January

Limerick Sports Partnership’s weekly ActiveCities Walking Group is doing the Condell Road Walk. Meeting at Shelbourne Park at 11am. No need to register. Just turn up and enjoy the walk.

There’s an Irish Dancing Class in the Record Room (downstairs in the Commercial Bar) from 7pm-8pm. Cost €10. Followed by the Tintéan Sessions take place in the Commercial Bar from 9 pm.

Jack Brolly’s Weird and Wonderful Quiz Night returns to Crew Brewing at 7.30. €20 for a team of 4. Money raised goes to the recovery fund for Socks the Dog. First come, first served. Nonsense guaranteed.

The TUS Midwest International Society are hosting a Quiz Night in Bobby Byrnes from 8.30pm. Entry €3. More info here

Wednesday 1st February

It’s Salsa Wednesday in the Record Room (Commercial Bar) from 7.30pm until late. Evening classes followed by Latin Social.

English/ Irish trio New Rules are in Dolans Warehouse at 7.30 pm as part of an Irish Tour. Rolling Stone UK recently included them on their ‘highly recommended’. Tickets from €20. More info here

It’s Drink & Draw night at Crew Brewing at 8pm.

Paddy Cullivan returns to the Belltable with the incredible story of the death of Ireland’s first Commander-in-Chief, Michael Collins. Starts at 8pm. Tickets €18/16 More info here

Poetry Ireland & the MA in Creative Writing in UL present Vital Signs, Poems of Illness and Healing – a poetry reading event in UCH at 2pm. Martin Dyar, Victoria Kennedick and Karen J McDonnell. Moderation by Eoin Devereux with guest readings from UL President Prof Kerstin Mey, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and Doland Ryan. This is a free event. More info here

The Wickham Way Food Court will be open 3pm to 9.30pm

The London Film Music Chamber Orchestra present an immersive tribute to Hans Zimmer and John William‘s most iconic music with a live chamber orchestra in a moon-lit setting at 6.30pm in UCH. Tickets for €23.15. More info here

Saturday 4th February

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way will be open 10am to 3pm with the stalls selling arts, crafts, etc. from 10am to 3pm.

There’s a Clay Workshop in the Hunt Museum from 11am to 1pm. Come along and create a Tree of Life ile that will form part of a collaborative project in the Museum. Costs €15. For ages 15+. More info here

The Six Nations kicks off today with 2 games. Ireland are away to Wales at 2.15pm. Live Coverage on Virgin Media. That’s followed by England vs Scotland at 4.45pm. Live on RTE. Lots of pubs around the city will be screening the games live.

As part of the Limerick Opera Festival, Lily’s Labyrinth Children’s Opera will take place at 3pm and 5.30pm in TUS Millennium Theatre. Tickets €10/5. More info here
