I wanted to use this week’s intro to the Limerick Events Guide to say thank you to all of you! Thank you to our readers and followers on socials media. Thanks to those who help spread the word and get our posts out to a wider audiene. To the acts, venues and event organisers, thank you for giving us so many great events to report each week (Special thanks to those of you who send in the info, it really helps). And a massive, massive thank you to our extremely generous patrons who keep the lights on here at the Pigtown Times each month. Each and every one of you make this project worthwhile and I’m deeply grateful to you all.

Visit the Easter Bunny at Jetland Shopping Centre from Friday, March 22nd, to Saturday, March 30th. Tickets €9 for children, €5 for infants (under 12 months), and free for adults. More info here

Fundamania comes to the Pa Healy Road from Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April from 1pm – 9pm daily. More info here

100 Years of Giving is a new exhibition at Limerick City Gallery of Art celebrating over 750 artworks donated to the public collections of Ireland by The Friends of the National Collections of Ireland (FNCI), which marks its centenary this year. Runs until April 7th. More info here

Eddie Cahill brings his Searching in the Dark exhibition to the Limerick City Gallery of Art. This exhibition has special significance for him as he spent time in Limerick Prison in the 1980s, and he considers his progress from City Jail to LCGA symbolic of his life’s journey. Limerick City Gallery of Art are delighted to present Cosmus by Brigid McLeer, an Irish artist living in London. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see a large body of her work across a range of media since her last exhibition in Ireland. Runs until April 7th. More info here

The Panoramic Wheel returns to Arthurs Quay Park from the 8th of March to the 14th of April. Soar above the city and take in the stunning 360-degree views across Limerick’s skyline on the spectacular 38-metre panoramic wheel. Sky-high fun for all the family! More info here

Limerick Museum presents a new exhibition Pagan Ireland and Saint Patrick. Via a selection of Bronze Age and Iron Age artefacts, this pop-up exhibition will explore the customs and beliefs that existed in Ireland prior to the arrival of Saint Patrick in the fifth century. Runs until April 15th. More info here

Monday 25th March

Run 061’s weekly Girls Night Run starts at 7pm. There are 3km, 4.5km and 6km routes. Open to runners of all levels. More info here

IFI@Belltable presents All Of Us Strangers (2023) at 5pm and 8pm. Starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, All Of Us Strangers is a beautiful, mysterious, deeply moving meditation on identity, loneliness, love, happiness, and loss that navigates its terrain on an even more profound level. The Talented kids of Expressive Arts Theatre School perform their end-of-year performance Showtime 2024 at the University Concert Hall at 7.30pm. A night of great music, song and dance is guaranteed. Tickets €18. More info here

County Limerick Youth Theatre (COLYT) presents Witches Can’t Be Burned in the Belltable at 8pm. If you keep on doing the same thing over and over again, you’ll keep on getting the same results time and time again. St. Paul’s has won the Playfest competition three years in a row by selecting recognised classics and producing them just as the masters intended. It’s a tried and trusted formula. With straight-A student and drama nerd Anuka cast as Abigail Williams in The Crucible, the school seems on course for a record-breaking triumph. What could possibly go wrong? Tickets €10. The Limerick Sports Partnership weekly Kimallock Walk meetings outside the Kilmallock Library at 11am. Just turn up and enjoy the walk!

Watch House Cross Library is hosting a Children’s Book Club at 3.30pm. For children who enjoy stories, books and reading, aged 7-9-year-olds and 9-12 years old. More info here

There’s a Qigong Class at 4.15pm in The Urban Co-op. Qigong is an ancient Chinese gentle movement & breath practice, wonderful for overall health, longevity, anxiety and Nervous System support. Accessible to anyone, at any age or fitness level. €15 per class. More info here

It’s Open Mic Night in the Blue Bar, Green Yard Cafe at 7.30pm

The Empty Nest in the Lime Tree Theatre at 8pm. The Empty Nest, is an hilarious piece of theatre that looks at how couples negotiate life after the kids leave, their dreams, disappointments, longings and uncompromising opinions on everything – Gogglebox on speed. The Empty Nest is written by Oisín Flores Sweeney and directed by Geoff Gould. Starring Irish Times Theatre Award nominee Seamus O’Rourke (Lakelands), alongside established actor and director Joan Sheehy, recently seen in An Cailín Ciúin. Tickets €22/20. More info here

The hillarious Fred & Alice returns to the Belltable at 8pm. Fred & Alice is a quirky love story about 2 amazing mischievous characters who meet in a home. It wasn’t really a home but Fred always called it home because that’s where he lived, and if you are not living at home then where are you? Tickets €16/€12. More info here

The Croom Easter Egg Hunts will take place in Croom Town Park on Friday 29th March at 12.30pm, 12.45pm and 1pm. Children will look for 4 coloured eggs, just one of each and once they have played the games along the way, they will be able to search for the next egg! Saturday 30th March

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way Market Stalls &  Food Court will be open 10am to 3pm (food court open til late).

The Lough Gur Easter Craft Fair will take place from 10am – 2pm at Lough Gur Lakeshore Park where there will be a variety of craft stalls selling their handmade pieces. More info here

Reggie for President in the Belltable at 8pm. Reggie from the Blackrock Road is the richest man in Ireland. He has over 80,000 followers on social media attracted by his videos mocking Liz Truss, poor taste and the people of Kilmallock. After years of tyranny under Michael D. The Commercial welcomes one of the most prolific and enduring artists in electronic music to The Record Room; Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor at 10pm, opening The Sevens series, a number of select DJ sets and conversations in the basement venue across 2024. As the front man of legendary UK group Hot Chip, Taylor is immediately recognisable through his music, be that seminal releases such as ‘Over & Over’ or ‘Ready For The Floor’, any number of the band’s albums – including their most recent Freakout/Release, or one of Alexis’ albums as a solo artist. Junior Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors (4 to 14 year-olds) held every Sunday at 9:30am in Shelbourne Park, Shelbourne Road. It’s free to take part but you need to register online before your first session and bring along your barcode. More info here

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK The Siege Of Limerick returns to Dolans from 1pm til late. For heavy metal fans across Ireland, the Siege of Limerick is a cultural institution. First started in 2009, the free Rock and Metal festival takes over the entirety of Dolans twice a year. If any of the previous Sieges are to go by, this is not an event you want to miss. Over 25 bands play across three stages throughout the day. This year’s headliners are The Sun’s Journey Through The Night, Harbinger and The Infernal Sea. Free entry. More info here

Join Liam O’Brien in Off the Bone Gastropub from 2pm-4pm with some smooth crooning of soothing jazz to provide you with that perfect Sunday aftenoon.
