The weather hasn’t been great recently but there’s plenty of events to keep you occupied. This week we’ve got live music, theatre, art, sport and a quiz so whatever you’re into – Limerick’s got you covered.

Tickets for our Pigtown Pick of the Week, The Parish, are going fast. This week also sees the first of the Summer Sessions in the Record room with T.A. Narative and Anna’s Anchor. They’ve a great lineup of gigs so get your tickets ASAP for these fantastic free concerts.

The Visions of an Unsettled Earth Exhibition will be on display in the Hunt Museum from Thursday 4th May to Friday 14th July. More info here

Limerick artist Tom Prendergast’s Not Me, Us Exhibition is in Ormston House until August 19th. More info here

For the month of July, Kilmallock Library is hosting The GAFF’s audio and photographic exhibition Tiny Little Histories, a community-sharing programme that brings untold histories from the Midwest to life. More info here

Painted Poems is a new exhibition at the Hunt Café by Julianne Guinee running from July 4th to August 31st. More info here

Night Paintings, the Limerick City Gallery of Art Summer exhibition runs until the 20th of August. The exhibition includes the work of three Limerick-based artists: Gerry Davis, Paddy Critchley and Stephen Murphy. More info here

Ireland and the Birth of Europe Exhibition will be on display at the Hunt Museum until Friday 8th September. Celebrating 50 years since Ireland joined the EEC, this exhibition tells the story of Irish participation in the development of European identities dating to over a thousand years ago. Showcasing items from our medieval collections and the work of the Art of Reading in the Middle Ages, with in-exhibition activities for children. More info here

Limerick Museum is hosting a special exhibition, A Digital Introduction to Irish LGBTQI+ History, featuring videos, photographs and archival collections which tell the stories of LGBTI+ people in Ireland and the growth of the Irish LGBTI+ rights movement. More info here

Monday 24th July

There’s a Tango class at the Record Room (Commercial Bar) from 7:30pm. €10 per class. All levels are catered for.

Tuesday 25th July

Limerick Sports Partnership’s weekly ActiveCities Walking Group is doing the Three Bridges Walk. Meeting at the Arthurs Quay Park at 11am. No need to register. Just turn up and enjoy the walk.

The St Mary’s Cathedral Lunchtime Concert series returns at 1.15pm with operatic arias with Ruth Kelly (soprano) and Irina Dernova (Piano). Admission to the concert is free (with a retiring collection). More info here

A workshop on the Archaeology of the Revolution in East Limerick takes place in Killmallock Library at 7pm. The aim of this project is to work with local communities to collect information about sites, people, incidents or objects from the 1917 to 1923 period. Bring objects from the period to the event are very welcome. Objects brought in to the event will be photographed only and returned to their owners. More info here

Jack’s Weird & Wonderful Quiz Night is back in Crew Brewing at 7.30pm. Trust us when we say this is not like any Quiz Night you’ve ever been to. This month’s quiz is a fundraiser for Feile Na Greine which takes place in August. €20 for a table of four.

SOLD OUT The First Summer Sessions in the Record Room (in association with WiredFM and WAV) takes place at 9pm. These are a series of free events across the summer featuring some of the best of the Limerick Music Scene. The first gig features Anna’s Anchor and T.A. Narative. More info here

The Republic of Ireland play Canada in their second FIFA Women’s World Cup Match at 1pm. Live coverage on RTE

Our PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK is The Parish, a 1960s stroll through Limerick City’s oldest community, with drama, music, audio and an opportunity to chat afterwards. Audiences will join this show at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 6.30pm for a short musical interlude with Eve Stafford before being guided onto Nicholas St. The next stops are for a short drama performed by young people in Nicholas St. Youth Space and an audio event recalling 1960s family life inside the walls of King Johns Castle, in The Alms House. The final dramatic component of this event is another short drama from the pen of Limerick’s much-loved playwright Mike Finn and takes place in King’s Island Community Centre where an informal social gathering will follow the more formal event. Déardaoin Rúnda : Thursday Nights at the Museum is a new series of live events throughout the summer months, including live music and performances. Free entry. More info here

An Evening of Jazz takes place at the Wickham at 7.30pm. Tickets €60 which includes Prosecco or San Miguel on arrival, a sharing board of Mediterranean-inspired meats, cheese & accompaniments and your choice of craft cocktail from over 30 on the mixologist’s menu as you enjoy 3 hours of jazz-inspired music. An Evening of Jazz

The Poetry Circle, in collaboration with the Limerick Writers’ Centre, presents Three Poets Reading Their Poetry, an evening of poetic expressions, featuring renowned poets Richard W. Saturday 29th July

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way Market Stalls &  Food Court will be open 10am to 3pm.

Connacht Munster Softball are running an open day in UL’s North Campus from 10am. Free event. Followed by Connacht Munster Finals between Galway, Limerick and Cork.
