January is always a funny month for live events with many taking a well-deserved break after the festive period. Despite that, there’s still some stuff going on so we’re back with another Pigtown Listing to get you through the week.

Limerick On Ice continues in Arthurs Quay Park until Sunday. Sessions daily from 10am to 10pm. Click Here to Book

The Made of Earth Exhibition continues at the Hunt Museum until 6th April. Made of Earth explores the story of clay and ceramics; how they have impacted civilisation and how civilisation has developed through their use. More info here.

The Enlightenment Art Exhibition by Limerick Artist Emma O’Connor-Bray is on display at Treaty City Brewery until Monday 9th January. More info here.

The Limerick City Gallery of Art hosts an exhibition from artist Brian Fay entitled The Most Recent Forever. Runs until February 12th. More info here

The Lime Tree Theatre presents Jack and the Beanstalk Panto, which runs until Sunday 8th. Written by Mike Finn, and directed by Michael Finneran with the voice of Pat Shortt as the Giant. Starring: Jessica Bray, James Corr, Aidan Crowe, Nigel Dugdale, Aoife Hennessy and Eleanor O’Brien. More info here

University Concert Hall and Robert C Kelly the Peter Pan Panto which is running until Tuesday 3rd. Starring: Johnny Ward, Myles Breen and Richie Hayes. More info here.

The Limerick Panto Society Present the Cinderella Panto at The Millennium Theatre TUS until Sunday 8th. Cinderella is written by Tim Cusack who also plays one of the Ugly Sisters. More info here

Tuesday 3rd January

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK Local musicians Trevor Sexton and Ger O’Donnell play the Longcourt Hotel, Newcastle West at 8pm. Tickets €20. Book here

The Tintéan Sessions take place in the Commercial Bar from 8.30 pm.

Wednesday 4th January

It’s Salsa Wednesday in the Record Room (Commercial Bar) from 7.30pm until late. Evening classes followed by Latin Social.

Thursday 5th January

The Wickham Way Food Court will be open 3pm to 9.30pm

David O’Doherty brings his Whoa Is Me tour to Dolan’s Warehouse at 7.30pm for the first of three shows. Tickets €24. More info here

SOLD OUT Local musicians Trevor Sexton and Ger O’Donnell launch their new album The Alchemist’s Stone Upstairs in Dolans at 8pm. More info here

Friday 6th January

The Milk Market is open from 11am to 3pm.

The Wickham Way Food Court will be open 12pm to 9.30pm

SOLD OUT David O’Doherty brings his Whoa Is Me tour to Dolan’s Warehouse at 7.30pm for the second of three shows. More info here

Na Piarsaigh GAA Club are hosting a Nollaig Na Mon event in the club house from 8pm. Music by Lisa Morisson. Tickets €5

Munster play the Emirates Lions from South Africa in the URC in Musgrave Park in Cork at 7.35pm. Live coverage on TG4. Book tickets here

Saturday 7th January

The Oahu Run Club is meeting outside Oahu on Thomas Street at 7.45 for a 5km run. Followed by a cool down & Breakfast bites. More info here

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way will be open 10am to 3pm with the stalls selling arts, crafts, etc. from 10am to 3pm.

Duo are hosting a New Year’s Yoga & Journaling workshop with coffee & treats at 10am. More info here

5Rhythms Dancing is hosting a Dance yourself into 2023 workshop in Dance Limerick, John’s Square from 11am to 6pm. Pre-booking is essential. Cost: €75/€65. Book here

The AIL Rugby season resumes for the new year with UL Bohemians hosting MU Barnhall at 2.30pm in Annacotty. Meanwhile, in Division 2C, Bruff travel to Middleton.

In Round One of the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship, Munster (Women) play Ulster in Musgrave Park, Cork. Kick-off 16:45. Live coverage on TG4.

Sunday 8th January

Junior Parkrun is a series of free, weekly 2k runs for children aged 4 to 14. The Limerick Junior Parkrun is held every Sunday at 9:30am and Shelbourne Park. You need to register once to get your barcode. More info here
