It’s a big week in Limerick, and there’s plenty to look forward to! The city will be bursting with colour and celebration as Limerick Pride takes centre stage, bringing a full week of fun, community, and inclusivity. Music fans are in for a treat too, with a number of concerts lighting up the week: Train will be playing in the magical setting of King John’s Castle, while The Wolfe Tones and The Script take to the stage at Thomond Park. The Limerick Pride LGBTQ Festival 2025 takes place from Monday 7th until Sunday 13th July. The theme of this year’s festival is United in This Together. More info here 

Cole and Flow, a weekend of movement and mindfulness takes place at Cole & Co. in Mungret Park. With group runs, ski machine challenges, yoga, and pilates sessions, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to get active, try something new, or just take a break and reset, it’s a great chance to do it alongside others in the community. More info here

From ‘Dickie to Richard’ – Richard Harris: Role of a Lifetime, an exhibition celebrating the extraordinary life and career of Richard Harris, the award-winning actor and global star who never lost his deep connection to Limerick, his hometown, is on display in the Hunt Museum from the Friday 4th July to Sunday 16th November. From his early years as a gifted athlete and lover of poetry to his rise on London’s stages and Hollywood screens, Harris forged a path marked by talent, resilience, and fearless reinvention. A collaboration between the Harris Family, the Hunt Museum, and University College Cork (UCC), the exhibition draws on the remarkable Harris Archive, generously donated to UCC by the actor’s family in 2022. Explore Limerick’s Stories, Streets & Heritage with Limerick Civic Trust. Walking tours run daily at 12pm from Arthur’s Quay Park. Learn the history of different sites, such as the historic bridges, the castle, St.Mary’s Cathedral, the Treaty Stone, and the beautiful river Shannon. We will also be taking in the different quarters of Limerick, and watching how the city developed! Tickets are 10 euro for adults, teenagers, and older children, but all children under 8 go free! More info here

The Big Limerick Seisiún with live music and dance takes place every evening in the Locke Bar at 5pm and 9pm

The official launch of Limerick Pride will be held at the People’s Museum at 6.30 pm with PRIDE and PROTEST – BRÓD agus AGÓID, marking 50 years of LGBT Liberation in Ireland with our Grand Marshall Tonie Walsh. As Ireland marks a half-century of LGBT activism, Tonie Walsh traces the evolution of queer activism on the island of Ireland; from the formation of Belfast’s Gay Liberation Society (1972) and the hugely influential Sexual Liberation Movement (1973) at Dublin’s TCD to the establishment of community resources and mainstream advocacy groups across all our cities and large towns. Train are Live at the Castle from 7pm. Train is a multi-GRAMMY Award-winning, diamond-selling band from San Francisco that has had 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and 13 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Train’s climb to the top began in 1994, as the original 5-member band tenaciously built a loyal hometown following, leading up to their debut self-titled album released by Columbia in 1998. It’s Comedy Night in Sextons at 7.30pm as Four Corners Comedy Club welcomes six comedians from around the country. Free event. More info here 

The Thomond Wind Ensemble and Benedictine College Band (USA) will be performing a Free concert on O’Connell Avenue at 7.30pm. This joint concert will showcase the breadth of musical repertoire available to the modern wind band.  Audiences will be treated to an incredible evening of music. More info here

It’s Industry Night in Pharmacia from 8pm

As part of Limerick Pride, Queens of the Night takes place from 8.30pm at McGettigan’s featuring a night of drag performances, audience games, entertainment, and a fun time out. Finger food will be provided on the night followed by DJ. Free entry. More info here

The Golf Sixes Inter-Club Qualifiers Munster takes place in Ballyneety Golf Club at 4pm. Golf Sixes is a fun, exciting and innovative playing format for juniors getting started in golf. It is a team-based competition that gives juniors the experience of being part of a team and representing their club at beginner level. The shortened format of the game, played across 6 six holes and from distances no more than 150 metres, provides the perfect pathway for junior golfers to develop their competitive skills in a safe and inclusive environment. The aim of this event is to create a vibrant space for people of diverse identities from the LGBTQIA+ community to connect, explore potential matches, and form meaningful relationships. You will be provided with a structured speed dating session that will involve rotational, timed one-on-one conversations, allowing participants to meet and connect with a variety of individuals. As part of Limerick Pride, Rainbow Roots, a Pride discussion takes place in the secret garden of 101 O Connell Street from 7 pm till late. Meet in the secret garden of 101 as we go back to our roots with a relaxed panel discussion from the people who were involved with the LGBT movement, events, and clubs in Limerick. Hear their stories and humour and join us in celebration with drag performances and DJ. Guests include sporting legend Jackie McCarthy O’Brien, Dave Cuddihy of Sarsfield Rugby Club, Nicole Dunphy and Billie Stocia who were both involved in the formation of Limerick Pride and LGBT Limerick community legends Myles Breen and Jim Lawless joined by historian Sharon Slater. US-based Irish Comedian Katie Boyle is in Dolans Kasbah 7.30pm. Following her sold-out tour of Ireland in summer 2024, Katie Boyle is returning home this summer with the new stand up show she is working on, ‘Roe v. Wade Versus Katie’. It’s about abortion rights, life in America, Saint Brigid, doing long distance with a childhood crush and Irish history. Join Katie for her uniquely personal dark comedy. Tickets €20. More info here

The Wolfe Tones bring their Final Farewell Tour to Thomond Park from 5pm. The iconic band, comprised of Noel Nagle, Brian Warfield and Tommy Byrne, have been entertaining audiences in Ireland and beyond since 1963. Tickets from €56.15 More info here

As part of Limerick Pride, the Limerick Pride Youth Party takes place at Lava Javas Youth Cafe, Lower Glentworth Street from 5 pm – 8 pm. Presented by Limerick Youth Service, young people (14-19yrs) from Limerick and beyond are invited to enjoy music and meet new people at this free event. The team will also be preparing for Limerick’s Pride Parade which takes place the following day. More info here

As part of Limerick Pride, Dance Limerick hosts the Pride Dance Party from 6.30pm. First up is a Dance workshop from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. This is a chance to learn different ways of moving, through fun group dynamics and games and music by Tom Prendergast. This is followed by a Dance Party from 8.30pm to 11pm. Attendees can participate in the dance games, mingle, chat, have some snacks and enjoy the party with old and new friends; all to the best tunes played by Tom Prendergast. Pure Gay Cabaret, an electrifying night of drag, burlesque, and pure queer joy hits the Record Room at 8.30pm, as part of Limerick Pride. Hosted by the mother of Limerick burlesque and one half of The Wild Geeze, the inimitable Laura LaVelle, this sizzling showcase features dazzling performances from Joe on the Dolan, Frida Nip, and more. Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK The Limerick LGBTQ Pride Parade 2025 takes place from 2pm. Gathering for floats and vehicles starts at 12:20pm at Merchants Quay with groups gathering from 1pm. Then proudly and visibly make its way through the city and then to the back of the Hunt Museum for Pridefest (After party) from 3-6pm. Feel free to be as colorful and creative as you wish. Pride Parade Route

Dyke Night, an alternative Limerick Pride Party, comes to Pharmacia from 3pm. Tunes downstairs in the lane from 3pm with the party continuing upstairs from 9pm till late. Featuring DJS LOLZ, Esme2k, DJ Egg, Alba and Kloya and performers: Robert Von Hart, Roibi,  Miz Meg and Cirque Du Doth. Tickets €22.60. More Info Here 

TELEVISED Limerick’s Footballers play Kildare in the Final of the Tailteann Cup in Croke Park at 2. 30pm. More info here

The Limerick Pride Afterparty takes place in the Hunt Museum Gardens from 3pm to 6pm. This is a free family-friendly event with cone van, a cafe and bar on site, free face painting, live music, performances, drag, and plenty of entertainment including the annual tea dance with Myles Breen. The Script will play their only Irish show of 2025 at Thomond Park Stadium from 5pm. After 10 billion streams, 12 million album sales, six UK #1 albums and two Platinum-certified US singles, The Script returned with the release of their album ‘Satellites’ in August 2024. Boozie Brunch with Rick Swann is on in the Black Rabbit from 7pm. Expect live trumpet, cocktails flowing, good vibes, and a crowd ready to dance. Limerick Pride: The Climax Party, the official Limerick Pride Party, will take place in Dolans at 8.30pm. They have a stellar lineup including Tyran Thrax (Ru Paul’s Drag Race winner), Absolute Britney, Paul Ryder, Regina George, hosted by Victoria Secret, joined by local and national drag queens, followed by DJ Ruth from the George Dublin in the warehouse. Everything is under one roof, with multiple bars and DJs, including ‘Saved by the 90s’ upstairs in Dolans with a live drummer and Alter Ego downstairs in the Kasbah Club. A Lip Sync Battle takes place at 10pm in the Wickham. This year’s Lip Sync Battle will consist of 8 drag kings and queens. Battles include: Dite Doll vs. Asher B.Grant, Billie Mystique vs. Strá Pón, Neo Nocturne vs. Viktor Complex, and Little Cupid vs. Dizzy S’Praxic. All fighting for not only the crown, trophy and title, but one of your favourite performers will win a grand prize for their fight. The audience can challenge anyone to a lip sync battle for mystery prizes on the night. Prizes ranging from merch to vouchers and more. Junior Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors (4 to 14 year-olds) held every Sunday at 9:30am in Shelbourne Park, Shelbourne Road. It’s free to take part but you need to register online before your first session and bring along your barcode. More info here

Croissant Run Club Limerick, a fun social running group, meets at 9.45am at Arthurs Quay Park for a 3.5km run (followed by a Crossiant). More info here
