Get ready for adrenaline and action as the 2025 National Downhill Mountain Bike Championships roll into Ballyhoura, County Limerick, for the very first time! Taking place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July, this landmark event will bring together 200 of Ireland’s top riders – including elite competitors just back from the UCI World Cup circuit. Hosted by Limerick Mountain Biking Club in collaboration with Ballyhoura Trailriders Ltd, this is a must-see weekend for biking fans, adventure lovers, and families alike. A brand-new downhill track has been specially built for the championship, descending from the highest point of the Ballyhoura Mountains to the valley floor in one fast, technical run. More info here

Thursday 24th July
Gurriers play the Seoda Shows Summer Party in Dolans Warehouse at 8pm. Support from Null Club, Theatre, Child of Prague. Tickets €12.50. More info here.
Ruadh (and friends) are in the Record Room at 8pm. This Ruadh headliner show consists of four up-and-coming bands based in Limerick and Clare. Each band will be playing their own songs with the goal of spreading their unique sound across Limerick. Maises Room is an advantageous acoustic duo playing alternative post hardcore music with beautiful vocals. Dinorah are looking to put themselves out into the Limerick scene with an alternative pop set. Entertainment Purposes, hailing from Clare, are coming to Limerick by storm with their impressive jazz/funk sound. Ruadh is a Limerick-based ginger ensemble playing their first ever headliner set, they are here to enchant your ears with soft lyrics and massive crescendos. Tickets €10, available on the door. A Queer Night On Broadway in the Wickham at 8pm. Get ready for the Broadway extravaganza of the summer. The night will feature drag, audience games, and a prize for best dressed! Get your suit, dress, or other Sunday best ready. This event has a formal dress-code, we will not be strict, but if you are clearly not following the code you may be denied entry. Tickets €11.70. The Big Limerick Seisiún with live music and dance takes place every evening in the Locke Bar at 5pm and 9pm
Mogwai are Live at the Big Top in the Milk Market at 7pm. Mogwai formed in 1995 in Glasgow. The band consists of Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar) and Martin Bulloch (drums). Since 1997, the band have released ten studio albums, with their most recent, 2021’s As The Love Continues, being a commercial and critical success, reaching number 1 on the Official UK Album Charts, amassing a Mercury Prize nomination and winning the Scottish Album of the Year award. An Evening of Song by the Maigue takes place in St. Mary’s Church, Croom at 7pm. Sarah-Ellen Murphy together with Pádraig Wallace have curated a most wonderful selection of music from Oratorio to Opera to Contemporary Art Song which promises to be an evening of exquisite entertainment. Sit back in the beautiful surrounds of St. Mary’s Church Croom and enjoy the journey of Love, Lust and Loss performed by the sublime contralto and leading Limerick Oratorio and Opera singer Sarah-Ellen Murphy accompanied by Pádraig Wallace. Works by Handel, Bizet, Mendelssohn, Gershwin, Linnane and many more. Rugged Little Pill, Ireland’s Tribute to Alanis Morrisette, play Dolans Warehouse at 8pm. Rugged Little Pill take you on a trip through the hits of Canadian superstar Alanis Morissette who was one of the biggest selling female artists of the 1990’s with over 75 million records sold throughout her career to date! Berlin Connection, Irish Roots is on in the Record Room at 8pm. Get ready for a special night of music as three exceptional Irish acts, all of whom forged their creative bonds in Berlin, take the stage. Ormston House invites you to the closing event of Distance is a Measure of Closeness, a solo exhibition by Kerry Guinan, at 6pm. Kerry Guinan’s practice is informed by the way that places are effectively brought closer together by capitalist processes. Using installation, participatory art, performance, and photography, she twins subjects in different locations, revealing political connections across vast distances. This exhibition guides invisible technological and economic connections into presence, gently suggesting that distance can deepen the significance of human interdependence. More nfo here
