Within the Hours of the Slowest Clock is on display in the Limerick Museum until the 30th November. This is an exhibition of eight large format oil on linen paintings inspired by the Guinness Canal in Limerick. More info here

Chris Boland’s exhibition I Must Have Things is on display in Spaecraft Studios on Thursday 21st November 7pm to 9pm, Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th November and Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December from 11am to 5pm.

The Regeneron Future Scientist Exhibition, an engaging and interactive initiative designed to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in young minds, is on display in the CRAFT Maker Space at Mary Immaculate College until the 7th December. More info here

The ACM’s Art Hub’s exhibition of their paintings is on display from the 25th to the 30th November in the ACM Community Centre, Castleconnell. More info here

Come along and meet Santa in his magical Grotto at the Castle Oaks this Christmas from the 30th November to the 22nd December. Tickets €23 for children (Includes Kids Hot Chocolate and Gift) and €7 for adults. More info here

Santa Wonderland will be open at the Old Community House, Colmanswell from the 1st to the 22nd December. Busy he may be, but Santa’s taking the time again this year to bring sacks of presents to all good children. His Igloo and Elves’ Workshop will be located at Colmanswell for you to enjoy. Mrs Claus and various cheeky elves will keep you entertained there with story-telling. Tickets €25 for Children and €10 for adults. More info here

Santa’s Magical Cabin returns to the Jetland Shopping Centre from the 16th November to the 23rd Decemeber. Each ticket includes meeting and interacting with elves, meeting your elf guide, visiting Santa in his Magical Cabin, Santa knowing personal information about each child and an age-appropriate gift from Santa. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture all those magical moments and you can order 8 x 10 framed prints immediately afterwards if you wish. €14 Per Child and €6.50 Per Adult. Santa’s Secret Workshop returns to the International Rugby Experience until the 23rd December. From the twinkling foyer to the whimsical Candy Cane Lane, excitement fills the air as families embark on a journey through the fun-filled workshops. Join the renowned IRE Elves for letter posting, toy testing, invention inspection, and more, as everyone works together to bring the magic of Christmas to life. Local Artist, Grace O’Brien, is holding a two-month solo exhibition, the Best of Both, in the Hunt Cafe. Her first solo exhibition features 24 paintings of local scenery. Runs from the 1st November to the 31st December. More info here

Risk/ Reward, Limerick Printmakers at 25 explores the importance of, and power in cultivating resilience as an individual and an artist, while acknowledging the challenges of maintaining this quality in an ever more complex world. Runs from the 21st November to the 12th January in the Limerick City Gallery of Art. Risk/ Reward features a selection of entirely new work from diverse printmakers working within an array of techniques, united by deep engagement within their practice. More info here 

Ormston House presents The Limerick Show, a showcase of works by emerging and established artists. This is a celebration of the breadth of art being produced in Limerick (city and county) today, showcasing thirty-nine artists and spanning painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and video. This edition has no theme, but there are recurring motifs and subjects. Runs from the 29th November to the 1st February. More info here

IFI@Belltable presents a screening of The Apprentice in the Belltable at 5pm and 8pm. The rise of New York real estate mogul Donald Trump in the ‘70s and ‘80s is explored in Ali Abbasi’s richly entertaining and insightful biopic that on one level plays like a supervillain origin story; Sebastian Stan masterfully captures Trump’s all too familiar mannerisms without tipping over into caricature, embodying the ex-president’s toxic blend of vaulting ambition, and deep insecurity with admirable restraint. The Castleconnell Concert Series presents the Banbha Quartet in All Saints Church, Castleconnell at 8pm. The Banbha Quartet (Lidia Jewloszewicz-Clarke, violin; Maria Ryan, violin; Séamus Hickey, viola; Aoife Burke, cello) brings together four of Ireland’s finest musicians and is one of a new generation of string quartets nurtured by the National String Quartet Foundation and building a following amongst audiences. For their fifth tour they present popular masterpieces by Beethoven and Schubert alongside a new work by Donegal fiddler turned renowned composer Seán Doherty. Inspired by the mix of Irish and Polish musicians in the Banbha Quartet, Sean’s latest string quartet celebrates the Mazurka, originally a Polish folk dance, made famous by Chopin’s piano works and also incorporated into the Donegal fiddle tradition. The Art Limerick Christmas Art Fair takes place in the Milk Market at 11am. Come to see hundreds of individual paintings, craft and photography from an international mix of 35 different artists who are living in the Limerick area. As part of the Christmas in Doon Festival, visit Santa’s Christmas fair from 12pm at the Doon Community Centre. Featuring a sensory Santa from 12 to 2 pm for children with special needs, and then open to all from 2pm. Santa’s Super Show comes to the Millennium Theatre, Moylish at 12.30pm and 3.30pm. Kilmmedy Community Development Group are hosting a Meet and Greet with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves in Seanie’s Farm, Kilmeedy at 1pm. Kids can write their letter to Santa, see Santa’s workshop in action and make Reindeer food. There will also be Arts & Crafts, the Nativity Scene and some festive treats to enjoy. As part of the Hurdy-Gurdy Discovery Weekend, H.I.P.S.T.E.R. Historically Informed Performance Series, Teaching, Education, and Research presents a Concert with Germán Díaz in the Limerick Protestant Young Men’s Association (LPYMA) at 3pm. Tickets €15/10. More info here 

The Limerick Santa Cycle 2024 in aid of Monaleen Cancer Support Group takes place at 7pm. The cycle will go from The Hurlers on the Dublin road and route into Limerick city and back out again, via the main gates of the Hospice, to finish at The Hurlers. The cycle is suitable for all and is a fun event. Santa suits and festive lights for the bike will be provided on the night. Finger food and refreshments after the cycle in The Hurlers bar. Over 16’s only. Prizes on the night for those that register early, for the best Santa costumes and also the most lit up bike. Tickets €35. More info here

Kilmeedy Community Development Group are hosting a Christmas Trail Experience at Seanie’s Farm, Kilmeedy at 7pm. This event is for anyone who wishes to not see Santa, but would still love to experience the community festive trail, which ends with mulled wine & mince pies. Tickets €5. More info here

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK Celebrate Christmas in Limerick with A Magical Winter’s Tale at 7.30pm. With beautifully costumed characters and elegant processional sculptures, LUXe Theatre Company bring their magical, illuminated Christmas procession to Limerick. A Magical Winter’s Tale will enchant audiences with a spectacular display of music, dance, light and sparkle. A Magical Winter's Tale

The University of Limerick Orchestra Festive Performance takes place in the University Concert Hall at 7.30pm. Join the UL Orchestra as they  perform classical, romantic, and festive favourites; the UL Orchestra is delighted to welcome the Mary Immaculate College Community Choir for our first performance together! Familiar tunes, beautiful harmonies, and wonderful local musicianship will be on display as we settle in to the festive season. Tickets €15. More info here
