We’re back. There was so many events going on in Limerick during October that I’ve found it very difficult to find the time to sit down each week and document every one of them. But we’re back this week and it’s another busy week here in Limerick. Check back during the week as I expect to be adding more events as the week goes on.

The Liskennett Halloween Farm is open at the Liskennett Equine Assisted Activity Centre, Granagh from Saturday 26th to Monday 28th from 10am daily. Pick up a pumpkin, listen to spooktacular stories and treat yourself to festive goodies, before taking the sensory Halloween trail! Saturday 26th is only open for those only with sensory requirements. Members of the public respect that this day is for Children and Adults with sensory needs and who may require a quieter experience. Please book one of our other dates if you do not fit this criteria. Delve into your deepest fears at The Scare Factory, where the terror experience returns to its raw, gritty roots in one of Limerick’s oldest and most iconic locations, The Old Cleeve’s Factory from the 17th to the 31st October! Shows run from 7pm to 10pm nightly. Tickets from €22. More info here
The Happy Halloween Experience is open in the Jetland Shopping Centre from Thursday 24th October to Thursday 31st October from 11am daily. Step into the spooktacular house of Hattie O’Goodspell, the beloved witch of Munster magic! Family fun for all at the Happy Halloween Experience! Each child will receive a small sweet treat from the witch before our professional photographer snaps a few photos to keep as magical memories. Limerick based artist Aisling O’Donnell’s Feminality exhibition is on display in the Friar’s Gate until 31st October. Aisling’s work is a celebration of women and the feminist movement. She uses colours, such as pink, and techniques that are stereotypically associated with women to create empowering feminist pieces. Open Monday to Friday (Weekend Appointments available upon request). More info here.
The Curraghchase Pumpkin Patch is open from 9am to 6pm from the 12th to the 31st of October in the Curraghchase Garden Centre. €8.50 per person + booking fee (Pumpkin not included). Magical Creatures is an exhibition of surreal fantasy created by Ken Coleman on display in Treaty City Brewery from Friday 18th October – Saturday 2nd November. Ken Coleman is an Irish mixed media artist combining traditional painting, sculpture, 3D digital art, and photography to create innovative and visually striking work. His art blends fine art techniques with emerging technologies, offering a constant exploration of new visual possibilities. Free exhibition. More info here
Vivienne Bogan’s Spontaneous Self Exhibition is on display in the Limerick City Gallery of Art until 10th November. The exhibition is the first major institutional show by the artist in LCGA. Bogan is a graduate of LSAD and has had an illustrious career with work in several public and private collections nationally and internationally. Free Entry. More info here
Ormston House presents The Sky is Falling!, a group exhibition featuring contributions from Ceara Conway, Seoidín O’Sullivan, Scott Rogers, and Christopher Steenson, on display until the 16th November. Featuring new and existing works, the exhibition is the culmination of several years of research into the corncrake, a species of bird approaching extinction in Ireland and the UK. More info here
The Creepy Crawlies Love/Hate exhibition is in Hunt Museum until November 21st. This innovative exhibition aims to engage, educate, and inspire visitors of all ages through the fascinating world of bugs and their crucial roles in our biodiversity and daily lives. “Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate,” is part of The Hunt Museum’s thematic focus of the year – biodiversity. Legends in the Shadows is coming to the 6th floor of the International Rugby Experience at 5pm, offering a thrilling evening of spooky storytelling that will send shivers down your spine. Set against the stunning backdrop of Limerick city, this unique event blends local legends with eerie tales as the gallery’s panoramic view casts shadows over the city below. Mercury Rev (and special guest Iona Zajac) are in Dolans Warehouse at 8pm. Beginning as avant-pop pranksters and evolving into purveyors of rootsy, majestic psych-pop, Mercury Rev aren’t so much a band as a long, strange trip. The volatility of the group’s early days likely added an extra spark to the one-of-a-kind mix of shoegaze, noise pop, psychedelic, and experimental music on 1991’s Yerself Is Steam and 1993’s Boces, which offered the first hint of just how ambitious their music became later in the decade. It’s Friday Fest in 101 O’Connell Street from 5pm to 7pm
Nevsail will be running a Halloween Kayaking Tour at 5pm. Experience Limerick from a different perspective this Halloween, kayak along the River Shannon under the night sky with nothing but the moon, the stars and city lights! You’ll be guided through the heart of Limerick City from the Hunt Museum, towards King John’s Castle, under Limerick’s many iconic bridges, all while enjoying plenty of fun kayaking games and spooky things to see and scary stories about Limerick itself and keeping all very entertained and active! Anyone can take part from the age of 6+ years and no previous kayaking skills or knowledge is needed (so beginners to advance all welcome). Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

Mary Coughlan is in the Lime Tree Theatre at 7.30pm as part of her 40th Anniversary Tour. Junior Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors (4 to 14 year-olds) held every Sunday at 9:30am in Shelbourne Park, Shelbourne Road. It’s free to take part but you need to register online before your first session and bring along your barcode. More info here
Croissant Run Club Limerick, a fun social running group, meets at 9.45am at Arthurs Quay Park for a 3.5km run (followed by a Crossiant). More info here

Nevsail will be running a Halloween Kayaking Tour at 5pm. Experience Limerick from a different perspective this Halloween, kayak along the River Shannon under the night sky with nothing but the moon, the stars and city lights! You’ll be guided through the heart of Limerick City from the Hunt Museum, towards King John’s Castle, under Limerick’s many iconic bridges, all while enjoying plenty of fun kayaking games and spooky things to see and scary stories about Limerick itself and keeping all very entertained and active! Anyone can take part from the age of 6+ years and no previous kayaking skills or knowledge is needed (so beginners to advance all welcome). All that participants need to bring with them are a pair of old runners, swim wear/togs and a towel and a windbreaker and woolly hat. Scary masks/costumes are optional. Tickets €30. More info here
