I’m fairly certain that everyone just skips my opening paragraph and jumps straight to the Limerick Events Guide below. That’s totally fair by the way. I do feel I should take advantage of this by putting some very random stuff in here and see if people react. Anyway, on the Limerick Events Guide!! We have a lot going on again this week. Our Pigtown Pick of the Week is a Simpsons Quiz on Tuesday night in Jerry Flannery’s. It’s a fundraiser for Goose Chase Theatre and Emerging Limerick Filmmakers – two brilliant local arts organisations. We’re sure it’ll be a very cromulent quiz.
Also worth checking out is a Trio of Plays in the Locke Bar from Wednesday to Friday, Brewery Bingo in Treaty City on Friday, Sing Along Social in Dolans on Friday and Hard Knox Pro Wrestling in Dolans on Sunday. It’s also Limerick Mental Health Week with some amazing, free events going on across the week.
The 40th EVA International will take place from 31 August – 29 October 2023 across venues in Limerick city and beyond. EVA International is Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art. Responding to the theme of Citizenship, the 40th edition will feature a ‘Guest Programme’ curated by Sebastian Cichocki, presented alongside new artist commissions as part of EVA’s Platform Commissions and Partnership Project initiatives. Ireland through my Lens is an Exhibition of photographs from travels around Ireland by amateur Limerick photographer Michael Brislane. It will be on display in Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick until Saturday 30th September.
Limerick’s All-Ireland Glory 1887-2023 is a special exhibition of Limerick GAA memorabilia, to mark four milestones in Limerick’s proud history of All-Ireland glory. It’s in the Limerick Museum until Tuesday 31st October.
Postcards from Limerick is a special exhibition in St Mary’s Cathedral celebrating 1100 years since the first Viking settlement was founded in Limerick. It contains possibly the largest collection of Limerick-related postcards ever assembled. Runs until November 17th. More info here

The Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival takes place in the Lime Tree and Belltable from the 5th to 14th October with loads of great events taking place for younger folks to enjoy. More info here

Monday 9th October
Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival, Wandering Stories takes place at 9:30 am & 11:30am in Studio 1, Belltable HUB. Wandering Stories is an immersive storytelling event, facilitated by expert storyteller Sinéad O’Brien. This is a schools-only event. More info here
There’s a film screen of Dune (Part 1) in UCH at 7.30pm. As part of the Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival, Moxie Brawl presents Punk Alley in the Lime Tree at 6.30pm. Punk Alley is a loud, wild, and unapologetic joyride of live original punk music and high-energy dance. But don’t leave your adults at home – this is a punk show for everyone. Tickets €10. The Boy Who Talked to Dogs tells the true story of Martin McKenna growing up in Garryowen, Limerick in the 1970’s. Born the smallest of identical triplets into a family of 8 siblings, Martin was always thought of as the runt of the litter and cruelly nicknamed as the stupid boy by his alcoholic and abusive father.
