Lumen Street Theatre Fundraising Appeal

Lumen Street Theatre has been entertaining the people of Limerick over the past few years. Most notably, they were the organisers of the Samhain Festivals celebration of Halloween in Limerick. However, due to a fire at their storage facility (and family home), they have set up a Go Fund Me campaign.

Lumen Street Theatre fire

Recorving from fire damage

While thankfully no one was hurt during the fire, it has a devastating effect on the property. Their studio was destroyed along with materials, equipment and a wide variety of tools.

As the recovery from the fire continues, Lumen have set up a Go Fund Me campaign to assist in replenishing materials which they use to create their street theatre props, puppets and lanterns.

A cultural insitution

At the Pigtown Times, we’re big fans of Lumen and the work they do to bring colour and joy to the streets of Limerick. The Group has been a constant in the cultural revival of our city over the past four years. Lumen have been actively engaging with the arts and culture community to collectively create art. They do this through artistic outreach programs, workshops and community participation.

The Group, which was founded by Martin Shannon, Giordana Giache, James Ryan and Kate Hodmon, have been very active. As well as the popular Samhain Festival, they have been responsible for several colourful displays at the Limerick St Patrick’s Day Parade, Culture Night and the Christmas festivities in Limerick. They’ve run summer camps for kids in the Hunt Museum. They have also collaborated with Limerick Youth Theatre and the Daughters of Charity for their annual Creative Show

If you have any money to spare, please support this fantastic organisation so they continue to entertain the young (and not so young) people of Limerick. To donate to Lumen Street Theatre, click here
