100 Years of Giving is a new exhibition at Limerick City Gallery of Art celebrating over 750 artworks donated to the public collections of Ireland by The Friends of the National Collections of Ireland (FNCI), which marks its centenary this year. Runs until April 7th. More info here

Eddie Cahill brings his Searching in the Dark exhibition to the Limerick City Gallery of Art. This exhibition has special significance for him as he spent time in Limerick Prison in the 1980s, and he considers his progress from City Jail to LCGA symbolic of his life’s journey. Limerick City Gallery of Art are delighted to present Cosmus by Brigid McLeer, an Irish artist living in London. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see a large body of her work across a range of media since her last exhibition in Ireland. Runs until April 7th. More info here

The Panoramic Wheel returns to Arthurs Quay Park from the 8th of March to the 14th of April. Soar above the city and take in the stunning 360-degree views across Limerick’s skyline on the spectacular 38-metre panoramic wheel. Sky-high fun for all the family! More info here

Limerick Museum presents a new exhibition Pagan Ireland and Saint Patrick. Via a selection of Bronze Age and Iron Age artefacts, this pop-up exhibition will explore the customs and beliefs that existed in Ireland prior to the arrival of Saint Patrick in the fifth century. Runs until April 15th. More info here

Jim Furlong and Barry Lemasney present their exhibition Dyad in the Friars Gate Theatre, Killmallock until 30th April. Barry Lemasney and Jim Furlong are graduates of The Limerick College of Art and Design. They both graduated with a BA honours degree in Fine Art as mature students. Both achieved a 1st class honour. While Barry and Jim have previously had solo exhibitions of their work, this exhibition will be their first joint venture together. Exhibition viewing is free and all are welcome. Inspiration’s Art Exhibition will be on display at Kilmallock Library from Tuesday 2nd April at 6.30pm until the end of April. A group exhibition of sixteen creative people, each person created a new piece of work inspired by their paired partner. Involved are Craftspeople, Photographers and Writers, Ciorcal Ealaíne Luimnigh (Artistic Circle of Limerick). More info here

April is Poetry Month in Limerick and the Limerick Writers Centre has a number of events organised across the month. More info here

The Turning Turns 40 exhibition in the Hunt Museum celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Irish Woodturners Guild (IWG) with a curated exhibition featuring 40 exceptionally turned wood forms that demonstrate excellence in craftsmanship and design. The exhibition runs until May 10th and is free for all to attend. It will then travel to four further venues across Ireland as part of the IWG anniversary celebrations. More info here

There’s a Limeick Single and Ready to Mingle Walk in Curraghchase Forest Park at 11am for ages 25-35 and 35-55. Tickets €22.50. More info here

There’s a Feohanagh Castlemahon Family Fun Day in aid of Carol Liston O’Connor’s recovery fund taking place in the Coolyroe Sports Complex, Castlemahon (V42 T270) from 1pm to 4pm. Nursery Fun Games & Egg Hunt, Bord na nÓg & Ladies Football Blitzs, Gaelic4Mothers & Other’s Exhibition Game, Community Games, Long Puck-U10s/U12s/U14s, wellie throwing, face painting, inflatable games, and wild encounters zoo. Special guests will include Limerick GAA & LGFA Stars. They will also have an ice-cream van, food truck, a shop and an AG sports stand also available on the day. All welcome. Le Daoine, graduates of the renowned Meitheal Summer School, are performing a Lunchtime Concert at the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance in UL at 1.15pm. The group comprises Mairéad O‘Brien, a master of the fiddle; Iarlaith MacArtáin, a banjo virtuoso; the enchanting harpists Roisin Duffy and Clodagh Moylan; and the melodic prowess of Aoife Dullea on concertina. Together, they harmoniously weave traditional Irish melodies, promising an unforgettable musical experience. Admission is free and all are welcome. More info here

The UL Musical Theatre Society presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in the Belltable at 7.30pm. In this fast-paced, interactive show, six pre-teen contestants from diverse backgrounds compete for spelling supremacy, all while sharing hilarious and heartwarming stories from their lives. The Jacinta O’Brien Memorial 5km County Colours/Jersey Run takes place at the 7.30pm at the UL Sports Arena. Organised by the UL 2nd year Sport and Exercise Science students, the annual event is in memory of Jacinta O’ Brien, a former member of staff of the PESS department at UL. Costs €5 with money going towards Limerick Suicide Watch. All donations are greatly appreciated. More info here

The Friends of UCH Music Club with Liz Nolan (Lyric FM) takes place in the University Concert Hall at 6.30pm. The week’s show features the music of Mozart, Haydn & Beethoven. Three musical gods, in the same city at (more or less) the same time- what was the dynamic between these peerless masters? Music Club tackles the ties of friendship, legacy, competition and aspiration that bound Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven. Tickets €70 for members and €85 for non-members. More info here

OUT in UL present QueerBash 18: Through The Looking-Glass in the Kasbah Social Club at 9pm. This year marks the 18th Annual QueerBash, a big queer party celebrating all aspects of the community! This year’s theme is “Through the Looking-Glass” so the whole place will be decorated like Wonderland. The show will feature drag performers, live music and a bunch of other things that you’ll have to come to see!!! The night will be closing off with a nice DJ set to party to. Tickets €11.70. City Theatre Dublin present The Matchmaker by John B. Keane in the Lime Tree Theatre at 8pm. Saturday 6th April

The Milk Market is open from 8am to 3pm.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Limerick has Parkruns at the UL Boathouse, Mungret Park and The Demense in Newcastle West. All you need to do is register once on parkrun.com to get your barcode and you can show up to any of the events.

The Wickham Way Market Stalls &  Food Court will be open 10am to 3pm (food court open till 9pm).

Jim McNamara will be hosting a Gardening Workshop in The Hunt Museum Garden from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Learn how to create a beautiful garden, full of vegetables! He will be covering topics such as: Getting started, Spring sowings and growing, & Growing vegetables organically. This workshop is geared towards novice and hobbyist gardeners. Storybook – The Songs of Brendan Graham is in the Lime Tree Theatre at 8pm. Sung by Cathy Jordan (Dervish) and accompanied by Feargal Murray (Camille O’Sullivan, Jimmy McCarthy). Storybook is a culmination of Cathy and Feargal working together on Brendan’s songs for 20 years. A celebration of an incredibly moving album that traverses the lines between the old tradition and a more modern folk tradition. Tickets €25. More info here

PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK No One Is Coming with Sinead O’Brien is in the Belltable at 8pm. No One is Coming is a ‘storytelling masterclass’ (To Do List London) about a daughter and mother’s turbulent relationship. Sinéad mixes Irish myths with modern day mammy issues to get to the bottom of what happens when the darkness comes. Exploring the impact of mental health struggles on the whole family it’s ‘a love letter to my mother, I’ll never send.’ Directed by Sahand Sahebdivani. Tickets €20/€18. More info here

Sunday 7th April

The Carol O Connor Fundraising Cycle takes place in Broadford. This event has been orgainsed as a fundraiser to help relieve Carol Liston O’ Connor, her husband Liam and their family of some of the financial worries of battling MND, starting from the community hall in Broadford ( P56 D402) you will have the option of a 45k or 90k route to choose from, both cycles depart at 9am sharp and are fully supported with breakdown and broom service, refreshments will be provided at the start and finsh point at the community hall in Broadford for both routes and also midway through the 90k route at the hall in Athea. Run 061’s weekly Sunday Long Run starts at 9.30am at the UL Sports Arena. This a 65-minute run Time on Legs Run. Open to runners of all levels. More info here

Junior Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors (4 to 14 year-olds) held every Sunday at 9:30am in Shelbourne Park, Shelbourne Road. It’s free to take part but you need to register online before your first session and bring along your barcode. More info here

Sunday Yoga Flow takes place every Sunday in the Milk Market at 10am. No booking required, just bring a mat. €5 per person. All Levels Welcome

Limerick Mental Health Association and Flexitime have organised a 5K Family Fun Run and Walk at 11am at the Abbeyfeale Limerick Greenway. There will be live music contributing to the atmosphere on the day, as well as tea, coffee & pastries. More info here

Irish Chamber Orchestra present Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals in the University Concert Hall at 3.30pm. A fun family concert bringing Saint-Saëns’ well-known Carnival of the Animals to life. With the help of Soo-Jung Ann and Fiachra Garvey on two pianos, musicians from the ICO as well as UCH Panto star Richie Hayes narrating, you will hear everything from the Tortoise’s lumbering Can-Can to crazy Wild Donkeys, a graceful Swan and lots more. A Special Night For Gaza takes place in Dolans Warehouse from 5.30pm. A night of fun fashion and music all in aid of the children of Gaza. All proceeds go to the children of Gaza through UNICEF. Marion Murphy Cooney, The Attic Bridal and Clara Silks Showcase their designs. The Shannon Gospel choir will blow you away with their voices. 16 Tons of Jive, Sticky Fingers and The Blues train will have you rocking the night away.
