The Aragon High School comes to the University Concert Hall at 7.30pm for an evening of incredible music. The Aragon High School Music Department has a rich history of developing high quality students and musicians. Throughout their high school careers, students have opportunities to engage in multiple levels of music study to encourage not only growth and development, but to foster a deep love of music. This extends to performing for a variety of audiences everywhere from the local community to across oceans. The Future of Moths & Butterflies in Ireland takes place in the Castle Oaks House Hotel on Thursday and Friday. Audrey Byrnes from Dochas Midwest Support Limerick will be holding an Autism Awareness Talk in Limerick City Library at 1pm. The talk will include a general overview of what neurodiversity is, how understanding of it has improved overtime and information on supports will also be given. More info here
Treaty Whiskey Society is hosting a tasting of Sliabh Liag Distillers in 1314 (Jerry Flanneryโs Bar) at 7.30pm. The tasting will be led by Graeme Bell, Head Distiller at the Ardara Distillery in Donegal, and home to the Sliabh Liag range of Irish Whiskies. Renowned for The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey, the brand has gained an acclaimed following among the whiskey community with great enthusiasm being shown for their releases. Following their Off-Broadway debut, Malaprop Theatre presents their first Irish tour, with their award-winning production, HOTHOUSE, in the Lime Tree Theatre at 8pm. A fast-paced, intergenerational story of love, loss, and legacy set on an Arctic cruise ship that takes the audience on a journey to bid farewell to the ice caps. As part of Limerick Sings, MโANAM, the dynamic male vocal ensemble of the ANรNA Collective, presents an Unlocking Vocal Unity and Expression Workshop in the University Concert Hall at 4.30pm. Join M’anam for an immersive workshop exploring the innovative ANรNA Technique, developed over 35 years by composer Michael McGlynn. Participants will delve into the core principles of breath, word, and intent, fostering individual vocal autonomy and cohesive ensemble sound without a conductor. This transformative experience, inspired by Irelandโs traditional music culture, empowers singers to connect deeply with their voices and each other, drawing on M’ANAMโs global performance expertise. Limerick Sings presents MโANAM in Concert in the University Concert Hall at 7.30pm. M’ANAM are delighted to be returning to Limerick for the first time since their debut performance there in 2018. Since then, they have travelled across the world and created a unique ethos that puts them among the most innovative male voice groups in the world. M’ANAM (“My Soul” in the Irish language), is an eight voice group of men based in Iceland and Ireland that combines the shared heritages of these two ancient cultures. Their music fuses the words of Icelandic and Irish writers – ancient texts from the Viking Hรกvamรกl and medieval Irish poets sit alongside contemporary songs and music created by Irish composer Michael McGlynn. PIGTOWN PICK OF THE WEEK Legendary dance act Faithless comes to Limerick with an intimate gig in Troy Studios at 7.30pm. Thirty years on from Insomnia topping the Irish charts and with a spectacular return to the live arena last year, Faithless come to Limerick warming up for a huge summer of festivals from the Isle of Wight to Pinkpop in the Netherlands. Original members Sister Bliss and Rollo have risen to the challenge of touring without iconic front man Maxi Jazz who passed away in 2022 by collaborating with with show designer Jvan Morand and are bringing Faithless back to its roots in an uplifting celebration of their music and a heartfelt tribute to Maxi Jazz. Creative Ireland presents Cruinniรบ na nรg, a national day of creativity for children and young people. Children and young people take part in a range of events and workshops across the Country. Limerick Sings presents the Outdoor Chorus with Bob Chilcott from 8.45am. Singers will enjoy a fun rehearsal/workshop of a well-known song, led by world-renowned composer and conductor Bob Chilcott, in University Concert Hall, before performing together, conducted by Bob, at the stunning Cliffs of Moher. This is a unique opportunity to work with one of the worlds most acclaimed choral composers, as well as to perform against the beautiful backdrop of the Cliffs! Hailed by The Observer as โa contemporary hero of British choral music,โ Bob has enjoyed a lifelong connection with singing and choirs. He sang in the choir of Kingโs College, Cambridge as a chorister and choral scholar, and in the vocal group The Kingโs Singers. Chilcot is Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers and is conductor of the Birmingham University Singers. He has guest-conducted choirs in more than thirty countries. As a composer, he has a large catalogue of music that reflects his broad view of musical styles and genres, including sacred music, jazz, and much more. Limerick will play Cork in the Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship Final in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 6pm. After a very close Round Robin series, this is going to be a cracker of a Munster final. Limerick Sings presents a Be Inspired Workshop with Elaine Agnew in the University Concert Hall at 10.30am. Elaine Agnew, one of Irelands leading composers and a highly experienced music facilitator, will lead this one-hour Sunday morning music workshop packed with musical exploration and creation to inspire the imagination! Delving into the wonderful and magical world of music making using our voices and bodies, participants will gain new skills and confidence as we collectively work through a tool box of material highlighting how music supports creativity, collaboration and wellbeing. In this workshop, Elaine will create an accessible atmosphere so everyone will feel supported to fully take part! More info here
