Sun-Gazer is on display in the Friar’s Gate Theatre from the 29th May to the 25th June. Sun-Gazer features a body of work by Limerick/Dublin based visual artist, Éilis Fanning. Exploring the sparse and formless borderlands of Ireland’s hills, these oil-on copper paintings contrast dreamlike, empty landscapes littered with monolithic fragments of infrastructure- radio towers, paths, pylons-with the battered copper sheet metal they’re painted on. These uncanny landscapes, sunblasted and alien, transform the hinterlands into explorations of transcendence, otherness, and freedom, and evoke questions of our relationship to the places we pass through. Rocky’s Adventure – A Story Created in Rathkeale is in Rathkeale Library from Friday 5th June to Friday 26th June. The young people have written a book just in time for Cruinniú na nÓg. Would you like to see how they did it? Come along and view their exhibition at the Rathkeale Library. Featuring the creations of 3rd and 4th classes of St. Anne’s Primary School, St. Joseph’s Boys National School and Church Street National School. Please note Rathkeale library is closed on Saturday 6th June, but the exhibition will be viewable through our picture windows. More info here
Askeaton Contemporary Arts invites you to Welcome to the Neighbourhood, curated by Michele Horrigan from Monday 15th to Sunday 28th June. This annual artist residency programme and festival situates Irish and international artists in the midst of Askeaton each summer, discovering new potentials of creative energy, the making of place and innovative ecological thinking. From The Life of Trees – Paintings by Volodymyr Topiy is in the Limerick Museum from Thursday 11th to Tuesday 30th June. From The Life of Trees is an immersive exhibition of paintings by Volodymyr Topiy that delves into the aftermath of war, exploring themes of loss, resilience, and transformation. Through his unique visual language, Topiy creates portraits that are not of individuals in the conventional sense, but of figures shaped by war, violence, and the shared psychological scars left behind. These figures emerge from the ruins of cities, with human bodies merging with fragments of collapsed buildings and destroyed architecture. In these works, the human form and the city become inseparable, a new kind of living architecture born from destruction. Free entry. More info here
The River of Dreams Annual Quilt Exhibition is on display at the TUS Limerick School of Art & Design from Friday 26th June to Friday 3rd July. A quilt exhibition displaying over 90 quilts made by Irish quilters. A colourful experience for all ages. Dressed to Impress: Sybil Connolly and the Art of Irish Elegance, an exhibition on Ireland’s Greatest Fashion Designer is on display at the Limerick Museum from Thursday 30th April to Friday 31st July. Sybil Connolly was a Dublin-based fashion designer of international renown, celebrated for her innovative use of traditional Irish textiles in haute couture. Drawing on materials such as finely pleated handkerchief linen, intricate Carrickmacross lace, and robust Irish tweed, Connolly created designs deeply inspired by Ireland’s people, heritage and cultural traditions. Often described as ‘Dublin’s Dior’, Connolly was a trailblazing figure in Irish fashion and among the first designers from Ireland to achieve global acclaim. Her work captivated the international fashion world, and she collaborated with prestigious retailers including Tiffany & Co., Bloomingdale’s and Lord & Taylor in New York. Her distinguished clientele included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Adele Astaire, and Mrs. Gregory Peck. Free entry. More info here
Limerick City Gallery of Art is delighted to present Quantum Listening by Trudi van der Elsen, a contemporary multi-media artist, originally from the Netherlands and now based in the West of Ireland. It’s on display from the 25th June to 30th August 2026. ‘Quantum Listening’ the title given to a body of work that explores the relationship between the human body and the wider world, and the invisible frequencies that connect them. Working across painting, photography, video and performance, the artist weaves together forms of matter, agency, subjectivity and objectivity. More info here
Our, Óir, Ore: Four Millennia of Limerick Silver and Gold is on display in the Hunt Museum from Friday 24th April to Sunday 20th September. Our, Óir, Ore brings the visitor on a journey through Limerick’s 4,000 year history of silver and gold craftsmanship. From the elegance of Georgian silver to the ceremonial treasures of the Bronze Age, this exhibition showcases precious objects from the Hunt Collection, Limerick Museum, the Limerick Diocese, and the National Museum of Ireland. This exhibition is a must-see for Limerick audiences, as well as anyone with an interest in precious metals, ancient craftsmanship, and Bronze Age artefacts. Tickets €12.50/€10 (Children go free). IFI@Belltable presents a screening of The Christophers in the Belltable at 5pm and 8pm. Gifted art restorer Lori (Michaela Coel) has been engaged by the estranged children of Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen), a once infamous, now reclusive, London artist, to help them in a scheme to secure their inheritance. Posing as Sklar’s new assistant, Lori is to complete the titular series of unfinished portraits so that they can be posthumously ‘discovered’ and sold. Needless to say, all does not go to plan in Steven Soderbergh’s delightfully acerbic, beautifully performed two-hander. Tickets €8. More info here
Golf Ireland is proud to present Putt In Pride, a social golf event for members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Ballyneety Driving Range at 6pm. Putt In Pride is a fun, social golf event for beginners, pro’s and everyone in between. There will be music, nibbles, PGA Pro’s giving golf instructions on the night. You will move to a new Pro every 20 minutes – speed dating for skills! And if you want to test yourself there will also be a fun bay for nearest the pin, longest drive and beat the pro competitions. Training will be provided to facilitators and coaches so it will be a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. And most of all fun! My Real Life by Eoin Colfer is on in the Belltable at 8pm. Four Rivers returns to the stage this year with a nationwide tour of Eoin Colfer’s blackly comedic and very moving play about love, life and death. In this stunning one-man play directed by Heather Hadrill, Wexford man Noel records his thoughts for a friend to provide a bit of a speech for the afters. We soon learn the afters in question concern Noel’s own funeral. He has been diagnosed with MS and decides to spend what is possibly the last hour of his life re-living the highs and lows of the past forty years. But it is not all doom and gloom. Noel will be played by one of Ireland’s leading actors, Garrett Lombard, who last featured for Four Rivers in Jim Nolan’s Castel Gandolfo in 2024 which sold out in record time. Tickets €25. As part of the Twilight Thursday, O’Mahony’s invites you to join them for an engaging in-person event with Fintan Drury on the publication of his second book called ‘Genocide, Sponsoring the Destruction of Palestine’ at 7.30pm. This is Fintan Drury’s follow-up to Catastrophe: Nakba II, extending his forensic chronicle of the genocide in Gaza into its third year. Opening on 13 October 2025 – when Donald Trump addressed the Knesset and held a Peace Summit in Egypt – the book dissects a spectacle that excluded the oppressed while rewarding the oppressor. Drury uses this moment to show how Western governments, led by the US, deepened their political, military, and moral support for genocide. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Fintan, who is a former journalist, correspondent and humanitarian activist who has worked for RTE, Irish Times & Morning Ireland among others. As part of Twilight Thursday. Killer Productions presents Kingdom in the People’s Museum at 7.30pm. Kingdom is a gripping, character-driven drama that spans two worlds – gritty backstreets of Dublin and the shadowy underbelly of New York City. In Dublin, a powerful Irish crime family rules with ruthless precision, their influence stretching far beyond the city’s borders. Across the Atlantic, a group of recent Irish emigrants struggles to carve out a new life in New York, unknowingly stepping into the same crime web that ensnared them back home.
Blas presents Alltacht with special guest Niamh Parsons in Dolans Upstairs at 8pm. Niamh Parsons has come to be known as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish music. Her voice has drawn comparisons to such venerated singers as Dolores Keane, June Tabor and Sandy Denny. Join local Irish harpist Fiana Ní Chonaill celebrating her new album Something Old, Something New with an intimate performance in Steamboat Music at 1pm. Fiana hails from Castleconnell, Co Limerick. She comes from a family which has been involved in Irish music for three generations and was reared in a household immersed in the Irish music tradition.
