Limerick Events Guide – 14th-20th August

In all the years I’ve been compiling a Limerick Events Guide, this has to be one of the busiest weeks. It might be the summer but there’s so much going on. We’ve got Feile na Greine, National Heritage Week, and HER Outdoors Week as well as all the great gigs, comedy nights, art exhibitions and community gatherings that Limerick has to offer. No doubt we’ll be adding more events as the week goes on. Our Pigtown Pick of the Week is Feile na Greine which takes place from Friday to Sunday across the city. What started with a group of Continue Reading

Seven Fun Things To Do This Week – 19th October

There’s a lot of uncertainty around at the moment. As we write this, we’re no closer to figuring out if we’re moving to level 5 or even to level 4. All we can do is keep doing our best. Keep your distance, wash your hands and wear a mask. With no events going on, we thought a different approach to the weekly listing was needed. So for the next few weeks, we’re going to bring you a list of Seven Fun Things You Can Do This Week. It will be a mix of online events, walking routes, music/book recommendations, sporting Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings – 17th – 23rd August

UPDATE: With the new Covid-19 restrictions announced on Tuesday and the weather warnings in place, it is likely that many events will be cancelled, rescheduled or modified. With all events listed, please check in advance if the event is going ahead (most require pre-booking anyway) and always follow the safety instructions of event organisers at all times. In some respects this year seems to never end but it’s also moving very quickly at the same time. Only seems like yesterday that I resumed doing the Pigtown Listings each week but that was the 6th of July. Where has the last Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings – 3rd to 9th August

UPDATED 6/8/2020 We hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty to do this week. In particular, we’d recommend our Pigtown Pick of the week which is a Sunset Hike in the Galtee Mountains with Britton Outdoors on Friday evening. If you enjoy these weekly listings, we have a simple favour to ask. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and like, share and comment on the posts for this week’s listings. It might seem like a small ask but it goes a long way for a small website like ours. All Week The Continue Reading

Rapecrisis Midwest Charity Auction

On the evening of Friday, 8th May, the Rapecrisis Midwest headquarters suffered a break-in. While no money was taken or personal data compromised, several rooms were damaged. Rapecrisis Midwest helps survivors of sexual abuse and violence. They provide comprehensive information, professional support, and quality counselling service for those affected. They provide a fantastic service for the Midwest region and all for free. “A charity very close to my heart” Following the break-in, volunteer Jantien Schoenmakers felt she needed to do something to help raise some money. “It’s a charity very close to my heart,” says Jantien. “I help with marketing, Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings – 27th July to 2nd August

Updated 29/7/2020 I spoke be starting this week’s Pigtown Listings by talking how amazing the Live at the Drive-In gigs were. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The events sector has been hit hard by COVID-19 and will continue to struggle for some time to come. If you can at all, log on to www.songsfromanemptyroom.com and make a donation to support the crews that make events happen. It’s a somewhat quieter week this week but there are still a few events going on. All Week UL and the Limerick PPN are hosting a special consultation on the Limerick Directly Elected Continue Reading

Pigtown Listings – 20th to 26th July

Update 21/7/20 – since publishing this week’s listings, we have since heard the sad news that the Live at the Drive-In gigs have been cancelled due to changes to the Covid-19 restrictions. This is devastating news for Dolans and all those who were due to work at the gigs. With this in mind, we would strongly encourage you to support the Songs From Another Room show on Saturday in aid of Minding Creative Minds and Association of Irish Stage Technications (AIST) Hardship Fund. More details below The pubs might not be opening after all but there’s still lots going in Continue Reading
