What a weekend that was. The All You Have Are Days Festival was a brilliant new addition to Limerick’s events calendar. We can’t wait for next year. Until then, we’ve another Limerick Events Guide packed full of amazing events. We’ve got live music, comedy, sport, theatre, art and much, much to keep you occupied.

Discover Kwaidan – Encounters with Lafcadio Hearn at The Hunt Museum, showcasing an extraordinary collection of prints by 20 Japanese artists and 20 Irish artists. Inspired by Hearn’s ghostly tales, the works reflect a range of techniques and artistic perspectives, each transforming these eerie stories into compelling visual pieces. The exhibition explores the intersection of folklore, storytelling, and the shared cultural heritage between Ireland and Japan. Runs until 22nd February. More info here 

Kian Benson-Bailes’s exhibition Culchie boy, I love you / Grá mo chroí thú, mo chábóigín féin is on display in the Limerick City Gallery of Art until March 30th. The Exhibition comprises of sculpture, digital & material collage, musical instruments, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, and live sculptural sound elements. Originally from Sligo, Kian Benson Bailes received a BA in Visual Arts Practice from IADT, Dublin in 2016 and currently lives and works in Dublin. Recent multidisciplinary work has examined Ireland’s language and colonial history – as well as craft, folklore and art – to re-evaluate a sense of place and self. More info here 

Séan Cotter’s exhibition Boulder Milt on display in the Limerick City Gallery of Art until March 30th. Séan Cotter is an Irish artist who lives in Cavan and is a graduate of National College of Art & Design, Dublin.  He has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in Ireland and internationally. Boulder Milt is his first solo show at Limerick city Gallery of Art (LCGA).  Séan has been on many residencies in Iceland, Finland.  These residencies have been a source of real concern about the way in which this planet, earth, is changing due to Climate Change.  In the early weeks of January 2025 we witnessed the devastating impact on people, their lives and the landscape in California of the wild fires – the direct result of our disregard for nature and how this has led to catastrophic consequences. A Four Week Morning Yoga course with Úna O’Rourke takes place at the Lough Gur Visitor Centre at 9.30am. These morning sessions are aimed at people of all levels and abilities. The classes are led by Úna O’Rourke, who has many years of experience as a yoga instructor. Her class are open, inviting, and inclusive. It really is the perfect way to start the week and the year! These classes will run for 4 weeks and cost €15 per class (total €60). (please note the first class is on Tuesday, February 4th, and then the 3 following Mondays). More info here

The Limerick Sports Partnership’s Active Cities Walking Group will be doing the UL campus walk at 11am. Meeting at the Pavillion, North Campus. More info here

A free Lunchtime Concert will take place in St Mary’s Cathedral at 1.15 pm with Emma English (soprano) and Sarah-Ellen Murphy (mezzosoprano). More info here

The Book Launch For ‘Moving On’ By Roisin Meaney takes place in O’Mahony’s at 6pm. This is Roisin’s 22nd novel and is sure to be another bestseller. The Ukraine Ballet of Peace presents The Nutcracker in the University Concert Hall at 7.30pm. The enchanting classical ballet ‘The Nutcracker’, has been performed by the gifted dancers of The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace since the company’s inception, with such prestigious training behind them, it’s little wonder this production has already wowed audiences across the globe in Canada, the US, and many countries across Europe and Asia. Track Dogs play Dolans Upstairs at 8pm. Track Dogs are two Irishmen, an Englishman and an American, (Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown & Robbie K.Jones), whose artistic name derives from the dark subterranean world of New York’s subway system. Join Ireland’s King Of Swing Luke Thomas and his band The Swing Cats for their Kings of Swing Show in the Lime Tree Theatre at 8pm. After a triumphant 2024 including steller sets at Electric Picnic and Headline slot at Cork Jazz Festival, Luke and his band are back with a brand new show celebrating 100 years of swing music from the 1920’s to the modern day.Tickets €32. The Irish National Opera presents Fledermaus by Johann Strauss in the Lime Tree Theatre at 7.30pm. Famous for his “The Blue Danube” waltz, Fledermaus is Johann Strauss’ most popular opera. Limericks own Hard Knox Pro Wrestling returns to Dolans Warehouse at 5pm with their annual event – WARZONE! Steve Savage defends his Hard Knox Championship in the Main Event against Long time friend and sometimes foe, JJusty! The last time these two battled in Dolans, they actually tore the house down.
